Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about attending a Sticker Sale, or having one of your own.
For anyone browsing, buying, or coming along to a Sticker Sale event.
Can anyone attend a Sticker Sale?
Yes. Every sale is open to the public, browse Upcoming sales to see what is on near you and grab a ticket.
How does entry actually work?
We sell tickets for a specific time slot, and the value of your ticket is redeemable against anything you buy on the day, so it is never really a fee. Turn up at your slot, we let people in, and you shop.
Is there a queue on the first day?
Busy sales can have a short queue at popular time slots, especially first thing. Because entry is ticketed rather than first come first served, you know roughly when you are getting in rather than guessing.
What is Early Access?
Early Access is our membership for regulars. Members get in 30 minutes before everyone else, on every sale, plus member only promotions. You can read more on our Early Access page.
Do you ever let people in before the public sale opens?
Only Early Access members get in 30 minutes ahead of general entry. There is no separate presale and no special favours, everyone else starts at their ticketed time.
If an item is in the listing photos, will it definitely be there?
Almost always, yes. Every so often the homeowner decides to keep something at the last minute, and when that happens we update the listing as soon as we know.
How do I actually buy something?
Smaller items can be carried to the till area or held there while you keep browsing. Larger pieces have a price sticker on them, peel it off, let a member of staff know so it gets marked as sold, then bring the sticker to the till when you are ready to pay.
Do prices drop as the sale goes on?
Sometimes. Prices may be reduced while the sale is on, and the till always charges the reduced price.
Can you hold an item for me if I call ahead?
Unfortunately we are unable to reserve items.
Do you accept offers?
Unfortunately we are unable to accept offers.
What payment do you accept?
Card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Do you deliver large items?
We do not offer delivery ourselves, but we can point you toward local, trusted movers on request.
Can I pick up a large item on a different day?
Yes. You will get a collection slip when you pay, and you can collect any time during the sale's remaining open hours.
Do you help carry heavy items to my car?
Our staff are mainly there to look after the house and the sale itself, but they will help where they can. For anything genuinely heavy, sofas, appliances, large furniture, please bring a second pair of hands if possible.
What is your refund policy?
Everything is sold as seen and is not refundable.
Is my ticket refundable?
Each sale sets its own ticket price, shown on the sale page, and some sales are free to book. What you pay for your ticket comes off what you buy at the sale, so if you spend at least that much, your ticket has cost you nothing, but any of it you do not spend is not paid back. Whether you can have your money back if you cannot come is shown on the sale page and at checkout, before you pay. If we cancel or move a sale, we contact everyone with a ticket about a refund or a place on the new date.
For anyone thinking about moving, downsizing, divorcing, or dealing with a death, and considering a sale.
Where do we begin?
With a free phone consultation, followed by a walkthrough. We will come to the property, look at what is there, and talk through timing and what the sale would involve before anything is agreed.
How far in advance should I get in touch?
As soon as you think you might need us. We often have sales booked weeks ahead, but if your situation is more urgent, a moving deadline or a passing in the family, tell us and we will do what we can to fit you in.
How long does the whole process take?
Usually one to two weeks from our first visit to the sale itself. Larger or more complicated houses can take a little longer.
I'm not sure if I have enough for a sale. How do I know?
Give us a call and we will talk it through. We will tell you honestly whether a full sale makes sense for what you have.
Can I still be living in the house during the sale?
Yes, we can run a sale in a home someone is living in. If that is a challenge for your situation, we can talk through options at the walkthrough.
What does it actually cost me?
Nothing upfront. We take 35% of gross sales, deducted at the end, and that is it unless you choose our optional clearance service for anything left over or book our cleaning service at the end.
Are there any hidden or upfront fees?
No. No upfront cost, no charge for the walkthrough, and our fee only ever comes out of what the sale takes.
How and when do I get paid?
After the sale ends we will send you a full breakdown alongside payment within 14 days, so you can see exactly what sold and for how much.
What does the setup process actually involve?
We go through every room, drawer, and cupboard, sort sellable items from anything that is not for sale, research anything that looks genuinely valuable, and price everything properly with a sticker before doors open. We will provide tables and clothes rails to display your items. Once the sale starts, we will provide shoe covers for the buyers and also take care of the payments.
How do I know you'll price valuable items correctly?
Anything that looks like it might be worth real money gets a proper look, using research and specialist knowledge where needed, rather than a guess. That fair look at everything is the whole point of Sticker Sale.
How do you protect the house while the sale is on?
We ask everyone to put shoe covers on, protect flooring where needed, and keep staff on hand to help carry larger items so nothing gets knocked or scraped on the way out.
I'm worried about theft. What do you do about it?
We limit how many people are in the house at once, use secure display for small valuables and jewellery, and keep higher value items near the till where staff can keep an eye on them.
Should I donate or bin old clothes, linens, and towels before you arrive?
Please don't, these items genuinely sell and add to your total. Anything left unsold can be donated or disposed of after the sale, not before.
How many days does a sale usually run?
Most sales run over a long weekend, typically two to three days. But this can be changed to suit your needs.
What happens to anything left over?
For an additional fee, we offer a clearance service, we will donate or responsibly dispose of what's left, so nothing you didn't want to keep ends up sitting in the house or going needlessly to landfill.
What if there's something left over I don't want donated?
Everything unsold is still yours. We will check with you, or send photos, before anything is donated or thrown away as part of the clearance service.
If I live out of the area, or abroad, can I still have a sale?
Yes. We handle everything by email and post where needed, and we are used to working with executors and relatives who cannot be there in person.
